Wilson King LLP requires a solicitor with 3 to 5 years' experience. You will join our busy solicitors' team in doing real estate and mortgage transactions, general corporate and commercial work, and wills, trusts and estates.

We are currently seeking a new full time member of our team in the role of Bookkeeper. As a key part of the daily operations of our practice, this individual should be able to work independently, prioritize competing demands, possess good communication skills and oversee the tasks of the accounting assistant. We are looking for a minimum of three years experience in bookkeeping. Experience with a law practice, including familiarity with the rules of the Law Society of BC are not a requirement, however would be an asset to any applicant.

The Bookkeeper works directly with all members of our team, including all lawyers, legal assistants and others within the office to ensure the accuracy of books and records and other daily operations of the practice.

Job Description

The Bookkeeper’s duties include but are not limited to:

  • Performance of the daily accounting and bookkeeping of the practice
  • Daily cash sheet reconciliations
  • Writing cheques and preparing bank deposits
  • Month end and year end processing
  • Monthly bank reconciliation preparation
  • Tracking of prepaid expenses
  • Preparation of bi-weekly payroll and T4 reporting annually
  • Prepare and file GST, PST, Payroll and EHT, including coordinating payment as needed
  • Accounts receivable posting and cash receipts
  • Accounts payable processing
  • Trust account procedures in accordance with the rules of the Law Society of BC and preparation of the annual Trust Report
  • Performing other duties related to operations such as lease and insurance renewals, Continuing Professional Development registrations and setup, library inventory, and others.
